Diseases, Diet, Surgeries and Medications can cause Flatulence
Often times when we speak about flatulence it is usually in a humorous way. Whether it’s a joke or someone making farting sounds it all boils down to laughter and embarrassment. We are going discuss a few of the different ways flatulence has an effect on people in a serious manner. These conditions cause people to be on the other side of the joke and if you’ve never had a condition like these then you’d never know how bad it feels. People have been discriminated against; have quit jobs, quit schools and quit participating in social outings because of the embarrassment associated with flatulence. These conditions aren’t openly spoken about due to the embarrassment associated with them, which causes individuals to withdraw from society. This is no laughing matter when you become alienated because of a health condition.
From surveys and studies taken we’ve been able to determine that the average human being has approximately 14 episodes of flatulence (gas) per day. Some people may have less and some may have more but if you fall into the “more” category, you may want to check with your physician or change your diet. Diet plays a very important role in the function of your body’s digestive system. High fiber diets are great for healthy living and have been proven to be helpful in preventing colon cancer and lowering cholesterol but it also causes excessive gas. What you eat can also determine the strength of the odor that is expelled (red meat, eggs, dairy products, beans, cabbage, etc..).
In our line of business, here at Flat-D Innovations, our main goal is to help people deal with their diseases and neutralize the odors associated with the flatulence. The majority of our clients are concerned about being embarrassed or have health conditions such as Colitis, Celiac's, Crohn's, Diabetes, IBS or Lactose Intolerance (to name a few). Not only do these conditions cause excessive gas but the medications such as antibiotics, certain diabetes drugs and cholesterol lowering medications also increase the amount of gas produced. These medications have side effects that disrupt the normal chemistry of the digestive system. We’ve also assisted clients that have had major surgeries (colon cancer, colon reconstruction, gastric bypass, gall bladder removal, etc..). Many people aren’t aware of the excessive gas problems that are associated with these types of procedures.
